Accomplishment
Nov. 2nd, 2003 10:49 pmWell, I can't say this was one of my most productive weekends ever (mostly because it wasn't)...however, it'll do for now.
Friday, while Ciona's minimally attended Samhain party stumbled along in the background (saw a few people I knew..met a sysadmin to geek with I hadn't known) I finished building a system to run a Tradebot for the online game I play. Putting it up as a service for the guild I'm with. Was fun tweaking a system for minimum services and then installing the game and utilities to run the bot. Time consuming, though.
Saturday was a lost day, really. D-man and I went out and did some shopping in the morning, nothing fun, just hardware and stuff...and a stop in at the bank to deposit some money to cover the rent check. I do so hate running so tight...my bad for trying to pay down the credit card and miscalculating, though. Got the last handful of fixtures for the bookshelf I have been in process of building for the last umpteen months.
Today, I managed to complete what I could of said shelf. Unfortunately, I remain short some lumber...and that will be hard to get together without a vehicle to transport it in. *sigh* Ah well, when I get the last few shelves, all will be well. I've already stocked up as high as I do have shelves..the frame of the unit worked out much as planned. It isn't perfect...made some errors...and it has been a few years since I last did a woodworking project. However, the skills haven't completely atrophied. I find myself remembering little things...hints my dad and my grandfather taught me when I was young. I think I'm going to build another of these units...and it will be much better constructed.
So I've unpacked some books into furniture I built myself...kept some promises and had fun with a kid. (Who threw up after going to bed last night and then was perfectly well this morning. Wound up cleaning up for a good stretch of time and then letting him share my bed while his room aired out...ewwwwww.)
And now to rest...perchance to dream...
