Dresden Files

Well, first episode down. I'm hoping that they hit their stride later in the season. This episode has some serious weaknesses. I think that if I had not read the books, I would have one of two feelings:

I'd like it better...

or

I wouldn't understand it nearly as well.

That's not a good thing for a new show, especially if the latter is predominant. Some of the changes they have made really bother me. Bob is too nice, too much on Harry's side in this. There are some uncomfortable changes to the backstory. I don't like the guy playing duMorne...errr...Morningstar...errr...whatever.

It was, however, fairly decent. I expected a lot more. However, Blackthorne was fairly good as Harry and Cruz nailed the personality of Murphy (if not the look :) ). It was decent enough that I'll give them a half season to get themselves rolling. Jim Butcher has seen a couple of episodes, probably from later in the season, and thinks they are really nailing it, so that's a good sign as well.

Generic Update

Reading: Solar Pons series still (it is strictly short stories), Mage Wars by Lackey/Dixon (on the second book)

Watching: Same as below, but just finished watching Jeremiah Crichton for Farscape. We may squeeze in another episode before heading to school in the morning (Durka Returns, the first Chiana episode). I can't wait until we hit season 2, since they'll be brand new to me as well as Neo at that point.

Helped neo_blackwolf get 2/3rds of the way through building his new computer. He's doing well. We're about ready to set it up and start installing XP.

Not terribly looking forward to camping with the Boy Scouts next weekend. It is cold out there and I have cruddy circulation. I still need to buy Neo a winter sleeping bag, too. *sigh* I swear the spending never stops. Arisia wasn't exactly cheap, either, though a lot of fun overall, as I said.

Ugh...snow showers all week, according to weather channel. I'm not thrilled. Alright, enough meandering...time for bed, methinks.
