Dresden Files
Jan. 21st, 2007 10:23 pmWell, first episode down. I'm hoping that they hit their stride later in the season. This episode has some serious weaknesses. I think that if I had not read the books, I would have one of two feelings:
I'd like it better...
or
I wouldn't understand it nearly as well.
That's not a good thing for a new show, especially if the latter is predominant. Some of the changes they have made really bother me. Bob is too nice, too much on Harry's side in this. There are some uncomfortable changes to the backstory. I don't like the guy playing duMorne...errr...Morningstar...errr...whatever.
It was, however, fairly decent. I expected a lot more. However, Blackthorne was fairly good as Harry and Cruz nailed the personality of Murphy (if not the look :) ). It was decent enough that I'll give them a half season to get themselves rolling. Jim Butcher has seen a couple of episodes, probably from later in the season, and thinks they are really nailing it, so that's a good sign as well.
